and Stress

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ

10 Prophetic duas for relief from anxiety, worry and a heavy heart. Arabic, transliteration, English & Urdu.

When Your Heart Feels Heavy — Turn to Allah

Anxiety and stress are not signs of weak faith. The Prophet ﷺ himself experienced grief, worry and hardship. What he taught us — through his own duas and the revelation of the Quran — are the most powerful tools for a troubled heart that have ever existed.
Standing in the Rawdah, in a garden from the gardens of Paradise, is one of the most powerful places to make dua for relief from anxiety. The Prophet ﷺ is near. The angels are present. And Allah — Al-Latif, the Most Subtle — is closer to you than your own jugular vein. Lay down everything you are carrying. Ask for peace. It is here.

These duas were recited by the Prophet ﷺ during his most difficult moments. They are from the Quran and authentic Sunnah. Recite them in the Rawdah, and recite them daily — they are your shield against anxiety.

In the Rawdah — step onto the green carpet and speak from your heart

During Tahajjud — the last third of the night, the time of deepest acceptance

After Fajr Salah — start your day with these duas for protection all day

During moments of acute anxiety — recite dua 3 (Hasbunallah) repeatedly

Before sleeping — especially dua 10 for peace at night

During any test, difficulty or overwhelm — these are your anchors

Frequently Asked Questions

The most comprehensive Prophetic dua for anxiety is dua 1 in this card — from Sahih Bukhari 2893 — which the Prophet ﷺ recited every morning and evening. It covers anxiety, grief, weakness, debt and being overpowered. Dua 2 — the dua of Yunus — is specifically recommended in a hadith for anyone in distress, with the Prophet ﷺ promising relief to whoever recites it sincerely.

No — the Prophets themselves experienced deep grief, fear and distress. Ibrahim, Yunus, Musa and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ all faced intense emotional difficulty. What Islam teaches is not the absence of anxiety, but the tools to navigate it — through dua, dhikr, trust in Allah and prayer. Feeling anxious is human. Turning to Allah in that anxiety is faith.

Dua 1 is best recited in the morning and evening daily. Dua 2 (Yunus’s dua) and dua 3 (Hasbunallah) can be repeated many times throughout the day — there is no fixed number. In the Rawdah, recite each once with full presence and sincerity rather than rushing through them quickly.
